Synaptica is a Nijmegen-based biomedical startup founded by Dr. Marijn Martens. We develop computational and AI tools that translate cutting-edge ion channel research into practical clinical applications, bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and patient care.
We have the world’s leading model for predicting the functional consequences of over 600,000 ion channel genetic variants, which clinicians use to interpret disease-causing mutations in channelopathies. Furthermore, we develop in-house machine learning modeling software that predicts the functional behavior of ion channels. Our training algorithm is over 100 times faster than existing alternatives, which allows us to train models with very high accuracy. We use this software to achieve in silico precision treatment predictions for channelopathies.
