Clients in VG care often face limitations in cognitive understanding, impulse control, or motor skills. This makes it difficult for them to independently determine when and how medication should be taken—and therefore requires technology that both guides and monitors this process. For older adults, this primarily involves physical assistance, while for people with intellectual disabilities (ID), the emphasis is on guidance and structure. The current solution—a large, expensive projection unit costing approximately €7,000—is portable within a single care facility but too heavy and cumbersome to easily move between care facilities. How can we keep EMB clients warm during and after showering, while they are still lying on the shower stretcher and/or sitting in the shower chair and being cared for? Solutions such as a body dryer or infrared heating have been considered but do not appear suitable in their current form for this target group or situation. But with limited staff capacity, a dilemma arises: with two caregivers for eight residents, it is rarely possible to take everyone outside every day. Currently, one caregiver is needed for each wheelchair, which severely limits capacity.
